Das systematische Doping hat culture; und das zu Recht gescholtene Sportsystem in China hat ein Vorbild, das uns in Deutschland näher ist, als es uns lieb sein kann. Die Sportförderung der DDR gilt noch heute als vorbildlich und wird immer noch positiv gesehen. Die Sichtweise erstreckt sich über den Spott bezüglich des extrem männlichen Aussehen der Sportlerinnen bis hin zur Glorifizierung des structures. Grund dieser Fehleinschätzung ist wohl, dass die Dopingvergangenheit der DDR nur unzureichend aufgearbeitet wurde; was once an der nur spärlich verfügbaren Literatur zu diesem unrühmlichen Thema zu belegen ist und im krassen Gegensatz zur Aufarbeitung der restlichen DDR-Geschichte steht. Und auch die beliebten Ostalgie–Shows auf den Privatsendern schweigen dieses Thema sorgsam aus. Das Doping in der DDR hat mit erschütternden Schicksalen zu tun.
